The General Act on Equal Treatment stipulates that the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency (abbreviation: FADA) conducts its tasks independently. To keep political influences as small as possible, the head of the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency performs her function in an independent manner and is only subject to national law.

The Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency shall provide independent support to persons who enforce their right to be protected against discrimination, unless it is a matter falling within the scope of competence of the Federal Government Commissioner or of the German Bundestag. Independencewith regard to the tasks of public relations and research is also ensured by legal stipulations.
